Yesterday I wrote of walking in a once-in-a-generation icy landscape, and mentioned that I had been transfixed by the sunset at the end of the walk. I’m going to save my words today and just show you the sunset that kept me outside that little bit longer.
Want to see more of my cold weather pictures? Here’s a link to my account of the rest of this Icy Hampshire Winter Walk, and another to Frosty Winter Fields.

Beautiful frosty captures! My favorite is the top one with just the textures making the shot work. Awesome.
Wowowow! These photos are simply amazing! It almost looks like a scene from a snow globe.
@Larry Jordan:- thank you so much! I like that one too, the ground was soooo crunchy and I wanted to try and get that feeling in the picture
@People with Cameras:- that is exactly what it felt like to be walking in that landscape, I was waiting for a giant hand to come and give the frost a good swirl
I’m at a loss for words…(imagine!)
Time starts to move again in the frosty fields…soon birds will start to yawn and stretch their wings..(guess I wasn’t at a loss for words afterall!)
Beautiful, Bird!

@earthtoholly:- thank you Holly – and wow, I think you got it! We went for afternoon tea just after these pictures were taken and when we came out of the tea house the fog had gone and the ice was already melting, in a few hours that gorgeous landscape had just melted away… and next morning the birds were back! The sudden change was astonishing. Just a reminder of how things are always changing…
Lovely, and worth the extra chill it took to take them!!
@Deborah Godin:- Thank you! And thank you for visiting!
Beautiful frigid shots! Winter is such a wonderful time of year for photos.
Happy Skywatching!
@Birdfreak:-thank you, and yes I agree, winter is so photogenic – you have a beautiful winter shot to be proud of on your blog
Happy Skywatching to you too!
Brr! A spark of glory (perhaps of hope) in a monochrome landscape. Really lovely.
I learned about Skywatch from you; I hope to contribute regularly now! Thanks!
@Kit:-The colour after a couple of days of monochrome was so striking, really welcome and lovely. I turned you on to Skywatch? That’s brilliant!

I’m glad I captured the icy feeling but I hope you don’t feel too cold now!
Pretty, but too c-c-c-cold looking! (For some reason, when I clicked on the “blog” link to get back here from the shop side, I got a message saying my IP address had been blocked by your server. Not sure what’s up with that…
@Lana:- Hi Lana! Yes it was beautiful but I have to say I’ve had enough of the cold now – roll on spring! Thanks for the heads up about the IP address by the way. I’m a bit of a dunce with tecchie stuff but I’ll certainly investigate (I haven’t recently blocked any IP addresses so might be my host to blame)
More great images! From my previous comment you might guess that the first is my favorite, so simple, so mesmerizing…
Hey, Bird! I have honored your lovely blog with a Dardos Award- please stop by my blog to learn more!
