Birthday Girl

I guess June is a month for love if the number of March babies is anything to go by… and I should know, being a March baby myself. Yes, it’s my birthday today, and I was woken up by R with a lovely mug of tea and a bag full of pretty parcels – I am a very lucky gal! I won’t be celebrating till the weekend when we’ll be travelling to my beloved Dorset coast for a weekend of coastal walks, birdwatching and cosy nights in. And before that I have the daytime celebration of another birthday gal tomorrow so it’s birthdaytastic right now – which makes a wonderful break from the mundane chores I’ve been struggling with this past fortnight.

What have I been up to? One of the more exciting things I’ve been working hard on is setting up a new venture which better reflects another aspect of myself – the side that loves the fantastical, that loves the grit of urban existence – I may love nature but there are reasons that I live in a city and I want to celebrate them! The Birds In The Meadow has been slightly neglected as a result but I’ll be back writing and crafting up a storm in time for spring. I can’t wait.

Let’s not forget there’s another March birthday girl in blogland…at  Earth to Holly!

Wow, that is quite a haul you’ve got there, Bird—good going! R sounds like the best! His wrapping abilities are superb. I hope you have a very happy birthday celebration today and all during your special weekend. You deserve it!

Say what? A new venture? Another blog? A website? A shop? Oh boy, I can’t wait…I love city stuff! Am really looking forward to this!

Oh I am incredibly lucky Holly, and R really goes to town with the wrapping – he has a stash of beautiful paper that he is constantly adding to and I got the benefit of it today!

Right now I’m doing the same old same old – website stuff, making stuff, trying to fulfil orders, reading blogs and barely able to concentrate on any one thing. The weekend will be gorgeous and I won’t be doing any of the above! (don’t get me wrong, I love what I do but it’s been a bit hectic for as long as I can remember now…) So thank you for your special wishes Holly I will take them very seriously and honour them :D

My new venture? Will let you know as soon as it’s fully cooked – wouldn’t want to serve up something raw :D

Oh my gosh! How sweet of you for the birthday shout out…and on your special day. You should be thinking only of yourself! Thank you again…now, go prepare to play! *big b’day hug*

  2. Happy birthday!
I believe I read once that the most babies are conceived around the holidays in December, and the least in the dog days of August. I’d guess June’s probably relatively high on the list, though, at least for first children because of June wedddings (when many stop using birth control and the traditionally inclined start…y’know)….

I never even thought of June weddings! A few of my friends might owe their existence to that, but I was the baby of the family. Oh wait… my dads birthday is in June. Ha! Perhaps he had a particularly good one all those years ago :D

Thanks for the birthday wishes Dr Jay – I believe you were somewhere warm and sunny for yours. Over here the concept of warm and sunny has taken on the quality of myth.

  3. Happy Birthday, Bird! I’d kind of wondered where you’d gone, so I’m happy to learn you’ve been up to something fun. Can’t wait to learn what it is!

Well, here I am late to the birthday party. So how that seems to be a metaphor for my life. My very best wishes to you lovely lady. May 2010 be an outstanding year that contains much joy.

  13. Bird says:

Hello all and thank you for all your lovely lovely birthday wishes! I know I am very late in acknowledging them and I am so sorry that I have not replied individually as I usually do – I’ve been pretty much on a blogging hiatus for two months and have not even been able to read friends blogs; all I can do is apologise profusely for my neglect.
